Landmark Daniel Walker and McMurtrie Marketing Braidwood held their Annual Autumn Cattle Sale last Thursday the 22nd April 2010 where they yarded and sold 2256 cattle, mainly mixed sex weaner calves, with some very good pens of joined and ptic heifers.
The yarding generally presented in forward store to prime condition and showed the usual type and quality expected from this district. The vendors should be congratulated in the manner they presented their stock sometimes under very trying climatic circumstances, but that is Braidwood breeding for you.
The yarding met sustained competition throughout the sale and values received were in line with what has happened at other centres during the last week.
A good gallery of buyer were present and came from South Australia, Milton, Ebor, Molong, Coonamble, Albury, Bungendore, Springwood, Crookwell, Cootamundra, Queanbeyan, Albury, Moruya, Wagga, Goulburn, Cobargo, Yass, Bega, Young, Wingham and some very good local Braidwood District competition.
The top pen of steer calves in the Landmark section was for a pen of 20 Angus x steer calves on a/c of Exeter Farms which made $685 and purchased by Andrew Lowe Wagga.
Peter Voss "Three Creeks" sold an excellent run of 116 Hazeldean Blood steer calves which sold to $675 and averaged $618. These were also purchased by Andrew Lowe
Andy Cassim "Glenfield" sold a run of 39 Angus Hereford x Steer calves for a top of $620 to average $583. The top pen was purchased by Mark Barton acting for Landmark Molong on a/c Oxley Station a Clyde Agriculture property. Mr Barton also purchased a subsequent pen 16 from the same vendor for $560.
Hugh Gordon "Manar" sold a pen of 13 Angus steer calves for $600; these also were purchased for Oxley Station.
Grant & Ros Simpson sold their pen of Angus steer calves for $580; these were purchased by Bob Watts.
Our top pen of Angus heifer calves made $535, this was for a pen of 19 on a/c Peter Voss "Three Creeks" and purchased by Tim & Sam Raynolds. The Raynolds Family also purchased a pen of 12 Black Baldy heifer calves of Andy Cassim for $535.
James and Mandy O'Brien, Krawarree Pastoral Company sold 10 Angus Heifers 2 1/2 years PTIC to Angus bulls to calve June/July for $820. These were purchased by Mr and Mrs Peter Smith 'NoJingle' Braidwood.

The next major sale is the 52nd Annual Blue Ribbon Vealer and Calf Sale to be held at the Braidwood Sale Yards on Friday 21st May.
