Historical Society Dinner

10 Jul, 2009 05:01 PM
The speaker was Andrew Sergeant from the National Library of Australia, who has made a study of the early years of the Braidwood Literary Institute, and how the community came to raise funds to build and maintain it until the Council moved into it as a tenant in the 1950s having earlier been using the Landmark Dalgety building.

The Edwardian Champagne Bucket was won by Tiffany & Stephen Royds and the 2nd prize by Olive Royds.

Bendigo Bank donated a further $1,000 towards purchase of the Braidwood Wilson desk which, together with funds raised by the Historical Society have enabled it's acquisition to be completed. The Museum was filmed by the ABC Collectors Programme last Friday for an episode due to air in about 4 weeks time.
