48th Annual Blue Ribbon Sale

25 May, 2006 11:52 AM
Landmark Daniel Walker of Braidwood NSW held their 48th Annual Blue Ribbon Vealer and Calf Sale last Friday, 19 May where they yarded and sold 3262 local district bred calves including 2108 steer calves and 1154 heifer calves.

The yarding met very strong competition from a large gallery of buyers from Milton, Mansfield (Victoria), Albury, Crookwell, Wagga Wagga, Griffith, Goulburn, Trafalgar (Victoria), Yarram (Victoria), Bairnsdale (Victoria), Queanbeyan, Boorowa, Forbes, Trangie, Holbrook, Bega, Cowra, Sydney, Jerangle, Windellama, Hamilton (Victoria) and some good local district competition.

With the dry season which is being experienced in this district surprisingly the calves mostly presented in good forward store condition with some in nearly prime condition and generally showing plenty of freshness. The quality of the yarding was once again, outstanding and some said it was one of the best yardings seen at this fixture. The breeders should be congratulated for their presentation and maintaining the breeding standards they have built up over the years.
