CONGRATULATIONS to Roger McDonald for winning the Miles Franklin Literary Award 2006. Roger has kindly donated a hardback copy of his book to the library. The award was established in 1954 with a bequest from author Miles Franklin. She wished to see Australian literature flourish. Roger McDonald joins authors such as Tim Winton, Peter Carey, Thomas Keneally in winning this prestigious award. If you would like to congratulate Roger for his award come along to the library tonight at 6pm. GRIEF & BEREAVEMENT COLLECTION

The library will be launching the Grief & Bereavement Collection on Wednesday 26 July 2006 at 2pm with afternoon tea to follow. This collection of resources is part of the QTY Bereavement Project (Queanbeyan, Tallaganda and Yarrowlumla) which commenced in June 2004, by the Greater Southern Area Health Service. The project has developed a pamphlet and other resources on loss, grief and bereavement for the Braidwood Community. The project was funded by the Australian Govt Dept of Health and Ageing under the National Palliative Care Program. With generous donations from the ACT Eden Monaro Cancer Support Group and Tobin Brothers Funeral Directors the library has been able to obtain a core collection of resources for the use of this community.
