No need to shout
An exhibition of drawings by local artist Lucinda Boyd is currently on show at the Altenburg Gallery. Opening recently to a packed house, Michael Gill spoke to the assembled crowd of the quiet reflection of the bushland depicted in the delicately rendered pastel drawings, and that this was one artist who found "no need to shout."
Lucinda began working with pastels after moving from Sydney to the Hunter Valley in 1983, a medium Lucinda feels best suits her interpretation of the mood of the Australian landscape, she moved to Reidsdale in 1997. The quality of the light and the colours of the surrounding bush have been the inspiration for her recent work. Lucinda Boyd's work is held in private and corporate collections across Australia, in the United Kingdom, France and the USA.
Studio Altenburg has recently been showing artist's work alongside works from other members of their families to allow the viewer to partake in part of the artist's background. Lucinda has chosen a few works from the collection of her grandparents (Merric and Doris), parents (David and Hermia) and her siblings (Cassandra and Amanda). The exhibition runs until 20th June.
