Braidwood's Community Radio Station 94.5FM, in conjunction with the Braidwood Folk Music Club are going to try to get a large community choir together under the instruction of Ms Merrilyn Simmons.
Merrilyn has recently completed further studies in teaching people who can't read music, to sing in a choir situation. Merrilyn is an extremely talented musician and singer song writer so we should all benefit from her teaching.
If we can get this off the ground, it is hoped that the choir would perform at Music at the Creek in November this year.
A similar choir was recently organised in Canberra by ABC Local Radio and the National Folk Festival. I have been in touch with the ABC and they are thrilled with the idea that Braidwood and surrounding districts are trying to do the same. They asked us to keep in contact and give them updates on how our choir is going.
This is a chance for the residents in Braidwood to get together and produce something beautiful. So, if you're interested please call 4846 1288 and leave you details so you can be contacted when we start rehearsals etc.
