A wave of opposition to the pool closure is growing across the Shire with a Save the Palerang Pools protest rally is being organised for this Saturday 17th June with a march from the Braidwood Recreation Ground to the Braidwood Memorial Swimming Pool in Ryrie Park. The march starts at 12.30pm. Rather than protesting to the Councillors, the group urges locals to "Come and show your support to our Council in their endeavour to make the state government listen to their plight."
A petition is also circulating.
Yesterday, the year 5 and 6 children from St Bede's had an excursion booked to Parliament House in Canberra, and had previously arranged a meeting with Federal member Gary Nairn, giving them the opportunity to express their concerns about the pool closure through pictures, letters and poems.
