The new library continues to astonish patrons and visitors alike. The airy, bright new space has been fitted out with comfortable chairs for reading, and currently houses the travelling exhibition "Woodlands". It will be in Braidwood until Saturday 24th June.

The following week sees a Scout Week exhibition in the library. Braidwood Scouts are organising this exhibition about what it means to be a scout. Apart from a display of posters, activities have been planned: on Tuesday 27th there will be scout story time with Joeys after school in the new children's area at 3.30pm. And Friday 30th is "Be a Scout for a Day" where activities will be held in the library after school. For more information please call Nicole on 48461091.

To coincide with the official opening of the library on Wednesday July 5th, activities have been organised for the little ones. Starting at 10am there will be pre-school storytime and activities, followed by Rhyme time for babies at 11.30. This is a great opportunity to introduce children to the womders of reading and the library. We do ask that parents pre-book so that we can have an indication of numbers. Please call 48422091 or simply drop in to the library.

A free information session on children's safe use of the internet will take place at Goulburn Library on Tuesday 27 June at 1.00pm. The session will be presented by NetAlert which is Australia's only Internet safety advisory body.

The NetAlert Expo is a travelling information roadshow aimed at educating parents, teachers and community groups on the dangers confronting children on the Internet. Research by NetAlert recognises that some parents do not understand the risks their children face when surfing the net, because they are unaware of the processes of chat rooms and blogging. It also found that a large number of parents and grandparents don't have the necessary knowledge and skills to properly supervise their children's use of the Internet. This information session is a great opportunity for people to come along and ask questions.
