01 Feb 12 | Australian gold company Cortona Resources Limited (ASX: CRC) announced to the ASX on Tuesday 31st January that “it has reached agreement with The Coastwatchers Association Inc and South East Region Conservation Alliance Inc. These groups formed the second and final group of objectors to the development approval granted in September last year for Cortona’s 100%-owned Dargues Reef Gold Mine (Mine) in NSW.”

31 Jan 12 | Braidwood’s Citizen of the Year Midge Stalker was described as “an inspiration” by Braidwood’s Australia Day Ambassador Warwick Nowland. The two time World Endurance Champion Motorbike rider was obviously delighted to be presenting 101 year old Midge with the Australia Day Award and hearing of her decades of community activity.
31 Jan 12 | The Sydney Catchment Authority (SCA) is joining forces with NSW Police to clamp down on illegal access in the Braidwood district. SCA Group General Manager Operations Fiona Smith said there had been an increase in illegal activities in the area around Braidwood over the past few months.
OAM to the ‘Mayor’ of Majors Creek
26 Jan 12 | Mr Brian McDONALD from Majors Creek has been awarded a Medal (OAM) Of The Order Of Australia In The General Division in the Australia Day Honours for his service to the community over many decades.
Campdraft weekend Results
25 Jan 12 | The weather was kind for the 2012 Braidwood Campdraft which was held at the Showground over the weekend of 14/15 January. The event was a great success and thanks to much larger donations of cattle the two day draft was back to the size it was eight years ago.
25 Jan 12 | Planning is well underway to celebrate Australia Day in Captains Flat, Braidwood and Bungendore on tomorrow 26 January 2012. The main feature of the celebrations is the presentation of awards for Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and Community Event of the Year in each of our main towns.
New plans for Anglican Parish
25 Jan 12 | New plans for the Anglican Parish of Braidwood were announced at last Sunday’s service. Bishop Stuart Robinson started the service with the announcement which had been determined by the Archdeacon, the Clergy Appointment Board, and the Parish Council, to leave the search for a new rector in abeyance for a short time ad extend the term of the locum, the Reverend Peter Lord.
Oallen Ford Bridge bid for upgrade
25 Jan 12 | Despite an agreement from five local councils (Goulburn-Mulwaree, Shoalhaven, Upper Lachlan, Yass and Palerang) to conduct a study into the favoured route for Main Road 92 west of Nerriga, an application for funding to upgrade the Oallen Ford Bridge will proceed to full application stage for the $200 million Round Two of the Regional Development Australia Fund (RDAF).
Campdrafting weekend
17 Jan 12 | Over the weekend several hundred campdraft enthusiasts ascended on Braidwood Showground for the annual Braidwood Campdraft. New campdraft yards had been constructed in December by volunteers.  | GALLERY: Braidwood Campdraft

150th anniversary of Majors Creek Picnic
15 Jan 12 | The 150th New Year’s Day Picnic celebrations were held on the Majors Creek Recreation Ground over the New Year weekend.

Eurobodalla negotiates more terms over Dargues Reef
11 Jan 12 | In agreements reached by orders of consent at the Land & Environment Court, Eurobodalla Shire Council (ESC) and Cortona Resources have agreed to further terms over the Dargues Reef gold mine proposal at Majors Creek, and ESC has withdrawn its appeal against the State government approval for the project.
Wild weather over Wallace Street
11 Jan 12 | Wild weather dumped up to 100mm from storm cells over Braidwood on Thursday before Christmas causing flash flooding in Wallace Street and electrical blackouts, and also affected Council’s attempts to rectify the contamination of town drinking water at the busiest tourist time of year.
04 Jan 12 | ASX Release – 21 December 2011 Cortona Resources has welcomed the Eurobodalla Shire Council’s decision to withdraw its action in the Land and Environment Court against the New South Wales Government approval for the Dargues Reef gold mine.
