A large crowd came to Braidwood last Friday for the biggest cattle sale of the year. After a night of rain across most of NSW, and reports of more on the way, there was some optimism in the market with over 3500 yarded.
SALE REPORT
Landmark Daniel Walker of Braidwood NSW held their 49th Annual Blue Ribbon Vealer and Calf Sale last Friday, 18th May 2007 where they yarded 3526 local district bred cattle including 2074 steer calves, 1296 heifer calves, 156 yearling steers and heifers. There was almost a total clearance except for 51 yearling steers which were passed in.
The yarding met very strong competition from a large gallery of buyers from Milton, Albury, Crookwell, Wagga, Griffith, Goulburn, Queanbeyan, Boorowa, Forbes, Holbrook, Bega, Cowra, Mansfield Vic, Narracoorte S.A., Wangaratta VIC, Woodstock, Corryong, Wodonga, Gungagai, Cootamundra, Bathurst, Melbourne, Moruya, and some very strong local district competition.
The quality of the yarding was once again outstanding and I believe it was the best yarding's seen at this fixture for a long time. Many of the cattle presented in prime condition, the balance in strong forward store condition. With the hard start all these cattle had it was it was great pleasure to see how all these cattle presented on the day but this just goes to show the genetic strength and doing ability the Braidwood district cattle have. The breeders should be congratulated for their presentation and maintaining the breeding standards they have built up over the years.
