Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Diocese of Canberra and Goulburn and the 137th Anniversary of the Enthronement of Mesac Thomas as the first Bishop of the Docese.
On Sunday April 8 a group from St Andrew’s went to Goulburn Cathedral to celebrate these two important dates in the lie of our Diocese. The Bishop had ridden on horseback from Canberra to Goulburn via Bungendore, Tarago and Lake Bathurst, ably assisted by Neil Lavis and a small group of other riders. During the service we heard exerts from various historical letters and other records which highlighted some of the challenges our predecessors faced. The service had a celebratory feel and each Parish was presented with an engraved tile to mark the occasion. Afterwards we had tea in the hall and were able to look at the various displays each Parish and provided depicting their history.....Thanks to Margaret Royds for providing St Andrew’s with a wonderful display. A good afternoon was had by all.
