$5m energy investment in electricity

12 Sep, 2008 04:05 PM
"Country Energy crews will replace 52km of older copper wire between Braidwood and Captains Flat with lighter, larger capacity aluminium line, which is more reliable and longer lasting" said Energy Minister Ian Macdonald.

A number of power poles will be replaced to totally refurbish the power supply network. Extra crews will be brought in from neighbouring field service centres, including Goulburn and Queanbeyan, to help the local crew complete the job as quickly as possible.

An additional $680,000 will be spent upgrading the electricity network for Braidwood township.

Member for Monaro Steve Whan said that "once the project has been completed, residents of Braidwood, Majors Creek and surrounding areas can expect to notice a significant improvement in reliability and quality of their electricity supply."
