For the last 17 years it's people of all ages have flocked to the Creek each November, to enjoy one of the friendliest little festivals on the eastern seaboard.
On Friday night (13th) the opening concert provides a taste of what's to come over the following two days - there's a little bluegrass, some jazz and blues, a few singer-songwriters, amazing piano feats and slick guitar work, as well as some traditional folk harmonies and tunes.
This year Majors Creek has hooked the exclusive debut appearance of a brand new act, Jimmy the Fish. In their own words, "...bringing together Liz Frencham, Robbie Long and Pete Fidler.
Other performers include Blue Mountain Rain. Coolgrass Scots singer-songwriter and guitarist Alistair Hulett, Canberra's Celtic 'big band' Humbug, local Bungendore family band, the Bond Traps, O'Neill and Rodgers, Canberra band The Ellis Collective.
There are also workshops, displays of belly-dancing, and an energetic performance by singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Mozambique, Kobya. Kobya in his native languages, with distinctive combinations of clicks & whistles, Portuguese and English.
From 7pm on Friday until 5pm on Sunday, the Creek will be abuzz with music, dance, poetry, children's activities, workshops and exhibitions. There are food stalls, craft stalls - and of course the session bar, where performers and audiences come together for a few tunes. Tickets are on sale now or at the gate.
