A new chef on the block

Alex Taylor, who has taken over full-time management of Cafe Caboodle, is enjoying the challenge of running his own business.

Alex completed his apprenticeship at Braidwood’s Doncaster Inn under Daniel Villenger and then moved on to the Hyatt Hotel in Canberra. His next position was at Parliament House working in the members and guests kitchens.

Married in Braidwood and now with a young baby, Alex says he is ready to continue on the wholesale side of Braidwood Fine Foods where over 300 orders are sent to Bungendore, Fyshwich and Pialligo each week.

In the new year, Alex is looking forward to developing the cafe’s menu with some Mediterranean dishes and, to give us a taste of what is to come. he will be hosting a Summer Solstice Soiree at the cafe on Saturday, December 22. Bookings will be essential so don’t miss out. Alex is hoping to hold a dinner night once a month. Marion Brown, the cafe owner, is planning to extend the culinary gift and product side of the business and is delighted with the new arrangements.
