Mrs Petrina Balmain of 'Larbert', Braidwood has received a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for service to the community as a foster carer with Barnardos Australia.
Mrs Balmain has been a foster career with Barnardos Australia since 1988, and has fostered over 150 children, many of whom have come from chaotic and unpredictable backgrounds.
Mrs Balmain also works as an interviewer of potential foster parents and acts as a mentor for other carers with Barnardos.
