Barry Claude Weatherstone

15 Aug, 2001 08:00 AM

A funeral service was held at St Andrew’s Uniting Church on Tuesday, July 17 for Barry Claude Weatherstone. Barry enjoyed a close affinity with the Braidwood region, after his appointment there as a PMG technician. He married June Grant of Durran Durra, in 1961 at St Andrews. The couple returned to Braidwood, following Barry’s retirement from the National Capital Development Commission in Canberra. They settled on their property at Durran Durra, where they had together built a beautiful home. Barry, a quiet, methodical and careful worker, spent many happy, active and productive years in the local voluntary Rural Fire Service. However, an unremitting illness remained as his unwanted partner and eventually forced him to discontinue his involvement with the Rural Fire Service. He spent the remaining few years of his working life enjoying the gentle peace of the land he adored, always with an old sheep dog as his constant companion. The loving assistance and care of June, their sons Stephen and Darren, their wives and children, gave Barry great pleasure, comfort and many extra years of happy family life.
