Benefits to community

29 May, 2001 01:39 PM
My association with the establishment of the Braidwood Community Bank has been since July 1999, but now I have a great sense of anticipation as we arrive at the next step in its realisation.

The benefits the Community Bank will bring to our town (apart from the full personal and business banking) is the return of banking profits shared with Bendigo Bank (50/50) to be used in community projects as the local shareholders select.

Braidwood Community Bank will have its own resident manager and full-time staff with complete local services supported by Bendigo Bank.

The community have a further and vital role to enable our community bank to be established when, in early June, you receive a reply-paid and confidential survey form from Australian Regional Consulting Group to confirm the profitable future for our bank.

When the survey form reaches you in early June, see it as a golden opportunity for our community to help itself by returning it accurately and promptly.

OWEN MOORHOUSE, Community Banking Steering Committee member.
