Braidwood's romantic past will be remembered with an exhibition to be held at the National Theatre on 25th September. The exhibition has been inspired by the remarkable historic footage taken by Millie Whitfield from 1960 to 1979.
Millie wrote the Braidwood news for the Goulburn Evening Post during this time and attended all the weddings in Braidwood, where she took film. The film has been transferred to digital by Millie's son Norman Whitfield and copied to DVDs.
For the exhibition a number of wedding dresses will be on display, along with other photographs and ephemera from wedding days in Braidwood. The organisers would be interested to hear from anyone who has historic wedding apparel from Braidwood as well as anyone who has a dressmakers dummy or mannequin for use in the exhibition.
