Saturday cricket action saw the A grade team playing Tuross at home and the B grade at Broulee.

The Aís got off to a good start when Keith Duran won the toss and elected to bat.

Duranís first scoring shots were 4, 4, 6, 4 and with good support from the veteran, Rob Martin, the opening stand passed 50 before Duran was bowled for 47 by a fierce delivery.

Hazel and Martin put together a useful partnership but the heat wore down the veterans and they were out for 33 and 34 respectively.

Richard Milner was looking good but was forced to retire hurt with a strained back after two good pull shots. Billy Lang punished the bowling for a brief period but his concentration span was tested after ten minutes and he failed to capitalise on a good start.

Andy Taylor came out to prove that he deserves his position in A grade batting at number nine. He dominated the strike and the bowling attack. He was able to show the top order that their positions are in jeopardy! After a quick fire thirty nine he was caught out on the boundary attempting to put a hole through one of the Waratah signs.

Exon batted well with the tailenders to boost the total to 226, setting a daunting task for the Tuross batsmen.

Abercrombie opened from the city end, with Rolfe charging in from the river end. Rolfe bowled very well without luck on debut, ending with 0 for 24 off 9. Abercrombie did not repeat his good start in his second spell ending with figures of 1 for 40 off 8.

Hazel with a chorus of support from the frogs at the river end was able to tear through the top order. With his final figures of 4 for 30 off 9 overs.

The Tuross middle order batsmen were putting together a threatening partnership. With no-one fielding behind square on the leg side, Glass, who was fielding in first slip with a sprained ankle in replacement for the injured Milner, was forced to chase in obvious pain after the ball. The batsmen took him on for a second run but underestimated his courage and when the throw came in flat and hard Exon whipped off the bails and the batsmen was well short of his ground.

Martin demonstrating to the team and the crowd that pace isnít everything foxing out the batsmen, ending with figures of 2 for 19 off 4.

The game came to a conclusion with Tuross at 9 for 187 at the end of their overs. Both teams were able to gain the extra point for batting out the required overs.

The man of the match was Andrew Taylor, he can cook himself a pizza.

Braidwood Cricket Club would like to thank their supporters, The Araluen Hotel, Braidwood Rural and Building Supplies, Waratah Fencing, The Braidwood Servicemenís Club and OíRourkeís for their continued and generous support.

The Waratahs (B grade) played at Broulee on the weekend. Broulee set a target of 247 for Braidwood to chase. Braidwood could not perform to this standard and ended up all out for 152.

Les Summerfield made 37 with the bat and 3 for 50 off 9 with the ball. Rion McClure made 26 with the bat and Nathan Maher with his bucket size hands took a good catch during the day. Rohin Summerfield after three ducks in a row managed to score with the bat, a relief for himself. Therefore achieving man of the match for his efforts.
