BRAIDWOOD CATTLE SALE REPORT

11 Nov, 2009 09:58 AM
The Braidwood Associated Agents held their monthly cattle sale on Friday 6th November 2009 where they yarded and offered 303 head including 132 scale cattle and 171 store cattle. The store cattle were mainly made up with cows and calves with a few pens of weaner steers and heifers.

The scale cattle generally with subdued competition with cows for slaughter most effected and would have been 10 cents on last month's sale. Trade cattle were generally fairly firm with good competition coming from our regular buyers. The trend we saw was similar to other centres in our region.

Store cattle met strong competition especially the few weaner type cattle on offer with the best steer calves selling up to $525 or equivalent to $2.10 per kg.

Cows and calves made up the bulk of the stores with approximately 90 on offer. Best cows and calves sold up to $910; this was for a pen of 7 Angus cows and calves which were purchased by a Moss Vale buyer. A second pen of 9 cows and calves made $770.

Yearling of Angus steers sold to $540 and their sister counter parts sold to $460.

Buyers came from Goulburn, Moruya, Moss Vale, Queanbeyan, Crookwell, Milton, Wingham, Bungendore, Harden, Nowra, Nelligen, Bega and some good local district competition.
