The Braidwood Associated Agents held their monthly cattle sale on Friday 5th March 2010 where they yarded and offered 900 head including 534 scale cattle and 366 store cattle. The store cattle were made up of good lines of cows and calves, joined heifers, yearling off steers and some nice lines of weaner steers and heifers
The market was very strong with excellent demand for all categories and followed the dearer trend experienced at other centres throughout NSW and Victoria.
The top price for cows & calves was for a pen of 6 Black Baldy heifers and calves which made $1060 and went to E. I. Pell of Bega. Pells also purchased a second pen of 6 for the same money. There was 32 good quality black baldy heifers sold for $830 and purchased by Divalls of Goulburn.
Earlier in the Scale run some heifer weaners made up to 188cents per kg this was for a pen of 9 top quality Angus heifers, their sisters made 187c/kg
Generally the yarding was of very good quality and the demand for our restocking type cattle was reflected by this as the competition was strong throughout the sale especially on any good females with buyers coming from Wodonga, Moruya, Wingham, Coonamble, Bega, Kooramburra, Forbes, Gundamain, Yass, Canberra, Queanbeyan, Young, Mogo, Wagga Wagga, Milton, Tarcutta, Boorowa, Harden, Melbourne, Goulburn, MossVale and some very good local Braidwood district competition.
