BRAIDWOOD CATTLE SALE REPORT

Friday 6th August 2010

The Braidwood Associated Agents held their monthly cattle sale on Friday 6th August 2010 where they yarded 419 excellent quality cattle, this included 187 scale cattle and 232 store cattle, and this was a 100 less than last month.

The yarding consisted of some good cows, heifers and steers as well as some very nice lines of vealer type cattle which met with very strong competition across all categories. The market lifted considerably in comparison to last months sale and followed the stronger trends experienced at other centres,

The store cattle met very strong competition throughout the sale with values generally showing a dearer trend across the board. With the promise of an excellent season in front of us the local competition was very strong with clients trying to secure some of the excellent quality lines which were on offer.

Cows and calves met strong competition with the best pen of 10 Angus heifers and calves selling to $1160, these were sold on behalf of Krawarree Pastoral Co and purchased by John Meade Braidwood.

Tim and Sam Raynolds "Neringla" Araluen sold 8 Angus cows 6yrs with calves at foot for $1150 with a subsequent pen of 14 making $1100; these were purchased by N R D Tait "Yarrandilla" Braidwood.

A single Angus cow and calve sold for $1300.

"Adore Park" Bungonia offered 26 Black Baldy cows, 8 yrs ptic to Limousin bulls, the best pen of 12 sold for $960, a subsequent pen of 12 sold for $950; these were purchased by Mr D Turner.
