The Braidwood Hotel, formerly 'The Commercial' has been owned by the Mitchell Family for 24 years.
The hotel has had only 4 owners in the last 110 years including the Raynolds and O'Brien families.
The historic Georgian building which once also included the Museum building, has been the setting for many of Braidwood's important events, and has been under detailed restoration for over twenty years. The room upstairs above the newly reopened kitchen was once used by the Literary Institute as a meeting room.
Over this time many of the later additions have been removed to reveal a rare example of an 1850s building.
The Hotel featured in the award winning film The Year My Voice Broke.
