March 15, Show Day, will present challenges for us all. As with The Royal Canberra and the Royal Easter Shows your committee has had to cancel horse events at our 2008 Show. The DPI rules are justifiably stringent and we are advised that there is no other option. But lets make the most of the Show and think outside the square!
The Show schedules will be available this week from the Post Office, Landmarks, The Rural, the Chemist, the Newsagency and at Shoemarks and Braidwood First National Real Estate.
There are big opportunities to use the ring for human events and your ideas and participation are welcome. The horse events officials will not be needed for horses but they may well participate in other challenges in the ring.
We are putting the Climbing Wall in the ring, along with our guest band, The Cosh, who will put on music in the afternoon, and there will be the Grand Parade of Vintage Cars, culminating in a circuit showing off our Miss Braidwood Show Girl and our Junior Show Girl. Any one willing to organise other events in the ring, please contact the committee or Martin Pitt 48 428073.
It's a great pity that there will be no horses this year but there will be cattle, sheep, chooks, poultry, the usual high standard dog show and the mighty Pavilion Show with something for everyone. And then there is all the fun of the fair with the latest rides coming on from the Canberra Show.
This year we have two coffee outlets for the caffeine challenged, a galaxy of food, drinks and produce stalls. 2008 sees more applications for stalls and the range of goods is wider than ever before. If you would like a stall please contact Geoff Gage at ggage@ihug.com or Martin Pitt.
There are displays by the Fire Brigades, axes and chain saw races, shearing competitions, yabby racing, a blues band and more. And there's big boys toys-tractors and big gear.
