Business skill produces Perpetual Calendar

17 Sep, 2008 12:17 PM
The calendars feature the historic buildings of the town of Braidwood. Over a period of ten weeks, the group of nine students and their four adult mentors, worked in the structure of a public company, learning the processes that real companies go through to make decisions. After deciding on their own company name, "Hiya", with a Board of Directors, Finance Director, Company Secretary as well as the Manufacturing, Marketing and Sales Teams, they learned how to make executive decisions whilst working within a large group.

Some of the team travelled to the Tuggeranong Hyperdome on Saturday 6th September to attend a Trade Expo, where all companies participating in the Business Skills Program had to attend, meeting people from other companies whilst selling their own product. The final product of all this delegation was the "Braidwood Historic Buildings Perpetual Calendar", a historic calendar, printed in A4 black and white, with photographs of historic buildings in Braidwood along with information on each individual building. It is perpetual, as it does not contain the year, so it can be pulled out at any time in the future and used. It is great for recording people's birthdays and annual events such as anniversaries. Each calendar costs $10, to cover printing costs and other bills, and a percentage of any profits made will be donated to a charity. Calendars are available at the Council Offices, the Library, CTC, Tourist Information Centre, Shoemark Real-estate and the Braidwood Deli. The team hopes to sell calendars at the next Braidwood markets and hope for your support in their work.
