Clare Sutherland’s work acknowledged

30 people in NSW were nominated and only 12 were choosen.

Clare has been secretary of the Braidwood Hospital Auxiliary for nearly 47 years. When she started, her mother Cathleen Rex was President and Midge Stalker, her aunt, was Treasurer. Her involvement in the fete has been one of her main fund raising activities.

The awards were presented at NSW Parliament House, Sydney. The official welcome was by Clover Moore MP, Lord Mayor of Sydney. The official opening was by Hon Richard Torbay MP, speaker of the NSW Legislative Assembly, Member for Northern Tablelands, and the Presentation of UHA 2008 Life Membership Awards by Professor Debora Picone AM,Director General NSW Department of Health. Guest Speaker was Jeff McMullen; television presenter, journalist, author, human tights activist. The announcement of Merit Award certificates was by Catherine Lynch, director, Primary Health & Community Partnerships Branch, NSW Department of Health. Clare accepted this award on behalf of the Braidwood Hospital.
