The weekend of Saturday December 1 and Sunday December 2, 2001 is the first of hopefully many annual clean up weekends.
On Saturday December 1, a household hazardous chemical collection will take place at the Braidwood Saleyards.
Ratepayers and residents can take those unwanted hazardous chemicals to the collection site. The chemicals will then be processed and disposed of in a legal manner.
This is a great opportunity for the public to dispose of batteries, paints, cleaning compounds, medications, poisons and other chemicals from around the home and farm.
More details are available on the brochures at your favourite local supermarket or rural produce store.
Sunday December 2 sees the first of hopefully many 'free' days at the Braidwood landfill depot.
The dumping of household waste will be free and it's a good opportunity for the house yard to be cleaned up for the festive season.
Council decided that instead of the annual 'spring clean' kerb-side collection program, this year we would try a different approach for the annual clean up. Any household item can be taken to the tip for re-use, recycling or landfill disposal and it will be free.
Commercial waste will still be subject to the usual charges.
Both these activities are providing the local community with a sensible and efficient system for disposing of solid wastes. Support your local community by supporting these waste management programs.
