The various pieces were produced during the 'Colours From The Land: natural dyes and the rural community' project. This was funded by the Australian Government's Regional Arts Fund through Southern Tablelands Arts and ArtsACT.
The funding allowed textile artists Gill Burke and Julie Ryder to work for a year with the Gundillion group. They showed how to make dyes from local plants and various techniques to pattern fabrics as they were dyed.
As part of the project every member of the group made up a comprehensive book of samples with notes on techniques and processes. Gill and Julie also dyed longer sample lengths in silk organza - which also went on display at the exhibition.
Opening the exhibition, distinguished textile artist Annie Trevilian stressed the excellence of the work and the importance of such community-based projects.
