28 Nov, 2001 08:09 AM
The crew of the Braidwood Fire Brigade held a retirement dinner for their retiring deputy captain, Peter Smith.

The dinner was held at Torpyís Restaurant on Saturday November 24.

Special guests for the occasion were Peter and his wife Fay, sons David and wife Leisa, Jason and partner Louise Sutton and superintendent of the NSW Fire Brigade South 5 Zone, Steve Hyman and his wife Pattie.

Peter was presented with a certificate of service and a personal letter of thanks from the Commissioner of the NSW Fire Brigade, Ian McDougall.

Superintendent Hyman on presenting the certificates thanked Peter for his seventeen and a half years of service to the brigade and the Braidwood community.

Captain Geoff Bunn also presented Peter and Fay with gifts from the brigade members, thanking Peter for his service and that his wealth of experience will be sorely missed.

Peter responded by saying he had enjoyed his time with the brigade and wished them well in the future.
