The Two Fires Festival Committee is proud to announce that musicians Archie Roach, Ruby Hunter and members of their band will perform at the Festival Concert in the National Theatre, Braidwood, on Saturday night, March 28, 2009,
Archie Roach is a singer, songwriter and guitarist who has become a powerful voice for indigenous Australians over a period of more than twenty years. He is a storyteller in the tradition of his ancestors, and a nationally popular and respected artist. His debut album, Charcoal Lane, was released in 1992, followed by Jamu Dreaming, Looking for Butterboy, Sensual Being and Journey, released in 2007.
Archie's partner, Ruby Hunter, has forged a reputation in her own right as a leading performer and was the first Aboriginal woman to release a solo album in Australia. The album, Thoughts Within, was followed by Feeling Good. Ruby has performed with Joan Armatrading, Tracy Chapman and Bob Dylan and in a musical celebrating her life, Ruby's Story, in 2005.
The Two Fires Festival and the Saturday concert are a little over nine weeks away. Make sure you enter the dates March 27-29 into your diary.
