Braidwood Multi Purpose Service (MPS) will be holding a 'Living Communities Day' at the Servicemen's Club on Friday 7th November. The concept for the day has grown out of community consultation that indicated that that there were some disconnections between services and the community.
The initiative seeks to establish less formal ways of including all members of the community in healthy lifestyles, whether it be through access to health services or through general healthy choices for day to day living.
MPS Manager Debbie Oxford-Willson said that "this community is live and well and supportive of each other, however our consultation feed back is that some people are identified at risk because of drought, or just from being on their own."
Many of these people would not normally seek health interventions, but may need support through services already in place."
The MPS decided to hold a day that would promote the concept of healthy eating and exercise to empower people to live well.
Bendigo Bank has agreed to be a major sponsor, along with the Club and Department of Primary Industries.
The day will be for young families to relax and see what is available.
Kristin Sturgiss will be the Hostess for the day. Among the activities and entertainment for the day are singing from St Bede's students, Richard barker will demonstrate how to grow vegetable, Vanessa Bunn will show some healthy snack ideas for kids and big kids, and some good food on a budget.
There will be stalls from local sporting clubs and health services.
The day hopes to provide connections between the community and the many activities and services that are already in place within the community.
There will also be lucky door prizes, pony rides, jumping castle, and face painting.
When: Friday 7th November 2pm - 6pm
