Saturday 27 March
2.30-4.30pm
St Andrews Anglican Church, Elrington St, Braidwood
This year's community concert series at St. Andrews Anglican Church in Braidwood opens with a somewhat whimsical theme to it. Expect lots of laughter and plenty of audience participation. It will feature Norman Meader - previously music teacher at the Braidwood Central School who has been promoted to a major Goulburn high school - performing some delightful cabaret songs. For all those who have enjoyed his performances and his music lessons over the years, this will be a great opportunity to hear him again.
Our other marvelous community contributions include a light hearted selection from Acapalerang, the wonderfully talented Wendy McMahon Bell and Susan Kennedy, performing a selection of well chosen witty ditties (with piano accompaniment from Cathy Owen) and as well as selected readings from that wry observer of human nature, Alan Bennett; a couple of entertaining performances from 'two gentlemen of Braidwood', John Weeks and Richard Allen and a performance from Tony Shepherd and Gilly Burke. By popular demand, the Jembaicumbene Band promises to up the rollicking good fun tempo. And last but by no means least, the magical Mervyn Olds has rustled up a couple of surprise renditions that should raise the rafters and clear out any cobwebs in the organ bellows!
The concert will showcase the wonderful and diverse performance talents within the Braidwood community and will provide an entertaining free event for all the family to enjoy. As always, complimentary afternoon tea - including those superb handmade biscuits - will be served at interval. Everyone involved in bringing these events to you - from organizing, performing to catering - does so voluntarily. So please reward this generosity by telling your family and friends, coming along and joining in the fun. It doesn't get much better than this.
