Palerang Council will receive funding as part of the Sports and Recreation Capital Assistance Program, of $7,410 towards New Horse Yards for Braidwood Showground
Member for Monaro, Steve Whan, said "I'm delighted to announce that $7,410 will be invested in the Braidwood community, to provide new steel horse yards at the Showground" he said. "The Braidwood Showground is a historic and well utilised local facility.
"The current committee is working hard to upgrade facilities and attract new events. In particular they are working to attract more pony club and horse events, with promising initial results" Steve Whan said. "The current yards are very old timber yards which are now ending their useful life. This investment will open up a wider range of options for horse and livestock events.
The Gundillion Recreation Reserve Trust will also receive funding as part of the Sports and Recreation Capital Assistance Program. '$4,700 will be invested in the Gundillion community, to provide a new kitchen at the Community Hall" Mr Whan said. "The Gundillion Hall is a historic facility which is integral to local community activities. This investment will open up a wider range of options for community events"
"The local community has worked very hard and undertaken a lot of voluntary work to maintain and upgrade the Hall. These grants will be matched by local contributions and will enhance the recreational opportunities in the area" he said.
Over $60,000 has been allocated to Monaro for local sporting facilities, among the 346 NSW sport and recreational facilities funded, at a total cost of $3.9 million." Under the annual Capital Assistance Program, the State Government helps local councils and not-for-profit sport and recreational groups to develop community oriented local sports facilities.
