On Monday afternoon last week The Hon Tony Kelly MLC Minister for Lands, Minister for Rural Affairs and Minister for Regional Development, personally delivered a grant cheque for $7250 and the option for the Gundillion Recreation Reserve Trust to take up a loan for a further $7000 for building repairs at the reserve.
Minister Kelly was on his way to the Cabinet meeting in Cooma when he called into the Hall where he enjoyed afternoon tea with a large contingent of locals from the Gundillion area and was extremely interested in the renovations that have already been completed in the kitchen. He was fascinated with the old photo display which depicted some of the history of the area and spent time chatting with the Trustees of the Hall and hearing of the many functions that the Hall hosts.
Mr Kelly congratulated the locals for their efforts in keeping the Hall in such great condition saying that volunteers are the backbone of the community.
Trustees are hoping to insulate the Hall so that the hot conditions in the summer aren't as extreme and the bitterly cold winters are a bit more bearable! They also hope to improve the natural lighting to the Hall.
