HERITAGE DAY FLOATS & DECORATED WINDOWS

16 Mar, 2006 12:55 PM
Businesses are invited to decorate their windows to add to the Heritage Day Festival celebrations which will take place on Saturday, April 8. The Braidwood and District Chamber of Commerce will award cash prizes for the best efforts – first prize $50, second prize $30 and third prize $20.

Our theme this year is "Our Golden Heritage" which may be interpreted as your heart desires. You might like to celebrate the discovery of gold which brought both prosperity and hardship to the miners in our villages and countryside, or you might just like to fill your windows with everything the colour gold or completely ignore the theme and go for the fashions of the times. Only your imagination will limit your creativity. Windows will be judged on their appeal and creativity, not necessarily the adherence to the theme.

And a reminder about floats. The more floats in the parade the more spectacular the parade will be. Once again the floats might follow the theme, be humorous or portray the interests and work of an organisation or business. If you are going to enter a float, or if you are planning on participating in the parade in some other way, the committee would love to hear from you so that we can be confident we are going to have a great parade. If you have a horse and buggy, a banner, a vintage, veteran or classic car or motorbike, or you want to decorate a bicycle or carry a puppet or dress as a character, your contribution will be welcomed. Keep us in the picture. Contact us on 4842 2626. Jill McLeod
