‘Heritage Whole’ wins Jim’s prize

Jess Bevege was last week announced winner of the senior section of the Mayor Art Competition. The art competition which is personally sponsored by Palerang Mayor, Cr Jim Maclachlan, this year was open to students from across Palerang in years K to 12.

Jess Bevege, a student at Braidwood Central School won with his entry 'Heritage Whole', a photo collage featuring the heritage buildings of Braidwood. In the Senior section entries by Beau Gunt, Taneill Richards and Michelle Tranter were highly commended.

In the Junior Section joint winners were awarded. The joint winners were, Lil Leake for a painting titled 'Trees' and Maddie Lamb for a delightful painting of 'The Rose'. There were a number of highly commended in the Junior Section, they were Kayla Uncles and Bella Cangelosi from Captains Flat, Candice Harrex, and Kristine Kuhy of Braidwood Central and Lachlan Leake, Darcy Lamb and Lil Leake of Bungendore Public.

“A display of some of the works has been mounted in the Bungendore Chambers in an effort to display the great talent which we have in the children of Palerang” said the Mayor.
