The listing includes the town, key views from the surrounding rural land towards the town from roads approaching from the north and east.
Nsw Heritage office has included a number of exemptions and incentives with the listing that will allow for protection of the town's heritage.
This means that most development complies with council's DCP can be approved by council.
A comprehensive package of exemptions to the listing includes:
Any development that complies with Palerang Council's Braidwood DCP Current development approvals
Development applications currently with council that have been considered by the heritage office
Any heritage agreementbetween the minister and the landholder
The Heritage office has agreed to a $20,000 special fund for Palerang Council to offer small grants to residents within the listing area.
Application fees will be ewaived for any non-commercial developments that need to be approved by the heritage office.
The Heritage office have also agredd to put 50% of fees from commercial development applications that need to be approved by the heritage Council back into Braidwood Heritage Fund.
The Heritage office has offered to engage a tourism consultant, through council, to develop aBraidwoods heritage tourism industry.
