Over the last 12 months we have been told that Westpac and the Shire Council were to maintain banking services in Braidwood through the operation of an “in-store” branch. What we weren’t told was how much of the services previously provided would be taken away.
Some people refer to the in-store as a bank. Well it isn’t, and Westpac seems to have little to do with it. The Shire Council runs the operation and I think even the staff are employees of the Shire. It seems that the only thing Westpac about it is the sign out the front.
Have you tried to open a term deposit? You have to go to Queanbeyan. Have you tried to change account signatories for your club or association? If you don’t have an existing account, you have to go to Queanbeyan. How easy is it to get a bank balance or to open a new account? What else can’t be done? It seems like we have been sold a pup.
It is hard to understand how there could be any loyalty remaining for Westpac. We need a return to full banking facilities and we need it soon. Hurry up Community Bank. I urge everybody to get their surveys in as quickly as possible. NOEL FRANCIS, Lascelles Street, Braidwood.
