The Gundillion community is hosting this event to celebrate International Women's Day -8 March - and to raise money for the Doug Smith Appeal. The hospital will be providing a bus out to Gundillion.
The Guest speaker is historian Dr Lenore Coultheart on 'Being international women: days of our lives'.
This will be a centennial celebration, featuring stories from the hundred years since the idea of an International Women's Day was first proposed by German labour leader Clara Zetkin. Lunch guests are invited to write - as briefly as you like - the story of a woman in your family - and bring it along, with a photo if possible. As March is also Women's History Month and the theme for Australia this year is Women growing food, stories of farmers and gardeners and gleaners are of special interest.
Formerly Senior Lecturer in Politics at the University of Adelaide, Dr Lenore Coltheart is now a Canberra writer with particular interests in political history and heritage. The cost is $15.00 and bookings are essential on 48 471 171. Guests are asked to arrive by 11. 30 for midday lunch.
