Kidsmart Program at Preschool

05 Dec, 2007 03:01 AM
The children at Braidwood Preschool will receive a head start on their education thanks to an innovative, technology-based learning program called KidSmart. The IBM KidSmart Early Learning Program provides the Preschool with a package of a computer, computer desk, printer, software and teacher training.

The IBM KidSmart Early Learning Program is part of IBM's focus on improving public education and sharing its innovation and technology in the community.

Kathy Toirkens recently attended a two day training workshop in Sydney, joining teachers from other community based centres and from Dept of Education preschools. The training emphasised ways in which the KidSmart software could enhance the children's learning, as well as ways in which technology can be incorporated into all areas of the children's learning, such e-books, slide shows, movies or claymation. This technology can also be used to share the children's learning with parents.

IBM Manager of Corporate Citizenship and Corporate Affairs, Andrew Hocking said "The IBM KidSmart Early Learning Program is a new and exciting way to involve children in learning at an early age. On behalf of IBM, I want to congratulate the children of Braidwood Preschool on becoming KidSmart".
