The NSW Liberal Party has selected David Gazard as its candidate for the next federal election in the important seat of Eden-Monaro.
Mr Gazard was chosen by the Selection Committee, which was comprised of a majority of local branch members. He selected ahead of two other candidates, Duncan Haskins and Ben Innes.
Mr Gazard said, "I am honoured and humbled to be entrusted by the local members as their Liberal candidate in this important seat."
"I will work hard to be the local member that people in the Braidwood and Bungendore region can trust to listen to their issues and stands up for their concerns."
Mr Gazard operates a small business. He previously worked as a Senior Adviser and Senior Press Secretary to then Treasurer Peter Costello. He has also worked in the private sector as head of government relations after beginning his career as a journalist.
Mr Gazard has resided for seven years in the small community of Burra where he and his wife and raising their three children.
"When you live in a community for some time, you become passionate about improving it, engaging with people and fighting for their concerns. Becoming the liberal candidate gives me a tremendous opportunity to stand up for people's local concerns right across our beautiful electorate".
Liberal Party State Director, Mark Neeham, said "Mr Gazard is an excellent candidate. He has a strong connection with the community, raising his family in the local area."
"We know that it will be difficult to win back Eden-Monaro for the Liberal Party. However Mr Gazard is committed to working hard for the community and removing this big taxing, big spending Labor government," said Mr Neeham.
