Mayor Marjason to step down

14 Aug, 2009 02:43 PM
The Mayoral position is elected annually from amongst the Councillors. Councillor Marjason made a short statement to the August meeting last week, stating that for personal reasons he would not seek re-election and that he would not be seeking re-election to Palerang Council in the 2012 elections.

Councillor Marjason, a partner of Baker Deane and Nutt Solicitors, served several terms on Yarrowluma Council prior to the formation of Palerang Council in 2004, with several terms as Mayor.

In recognition of his long service to local government, Cr Marjason was awarded the title "Emeritus Mayor" by the Shires Association in 2008.
