The author of 'The Laird of Braidwood', Lance Wilson, will be at the Braidwood Museum on Monday 26th March from 10am to 12 noon.
Lance is a descendant of two of Dr Thomas Braidwood Wilson's brothers, and lives in Tasmania. Come along and meet him.
The Heritage Week celebrations in Braidwood this year were sensational, truly befitting the only heritage listed town on the east coast of Australia. Congratulations to those who organised the Heritage Ball and Heritage Day itself.
This month is a very exciting one for the Museum with the opening of the Braidwood Portrait Gallery at the end of the month. The photographs in the main room are hung, and only await labels. And there are the rest to hang too, but we will get there!
At the Braidwood Museum we always encourage our volunteers to attend workshops to update their skills in conservation methods. Recently, the President attended a Training Weekend for Museum Volunteers held at Galong, where very constructive full day workshops were held on paper and textile conservation.
We do have a great bunch of volunteers who are doing amazing things, but are always on the lookout for more. Can you spare 3 hours a month to help at the Museum by volunteering on the reception desk? Full training is provided and volunteers are not expected to answer questions on history!
