News from the National Theatre

16 May, 2001 01:31 PM
On Friday evening, May 4, over fifty members of our community enjoyed a pleasant 'viewing' of the work that has recently been carried out on refurbishing the interior of the National Theatre.Everyone was most complimentary about the colour scheme and the feeling of light, space and warmth in the hall. Everyone expressed enthusiasm about the future use of the theatre space.

Michelle Robison and Aaron Pont canvassed support for the starting up of a film society in Braidwood. Thirty-five people expressed interest, which is very encouraging to the National Theatre Committee. If any other members of the community are keen film goers who would like to see a film society in Braidwood, please contact Michelle and Aaron on phone number 4842 1387.

Work on The National Theatre has not finished yet, so the Committee held a raffle on Saturday, May 5. The first prize winner, Jenny Wallace won the load of timber and the second prizewinner, Noel Francis, won the $100 open order from the Five Star Supermarket. Thank you to the two generous businesses who donated these prizes and the committee members who manned the stall. The raffle raised $262.

"Milo" comes to town on Thursday May 24. The Ned Manning play is being

produced by Theatresouth who has brought us 'The Perfectionist" and "Wedding Games" during the last couple of years. We are very fortunate that theatre companies are prepared to bring live drama to Braidwood and we ask for your support by coming to the play. Make up a party of 10 or 20 or more and save money on the ticket price.

Tickets are available from McLeod Gallery.
