Throughout the year Braidwood's Nichole Amey had travelled all over NSW and QLD to gain points to qualify for the National Rodeo Finals in Tamworth.
Nichole qualified in 5th position for the Ladies Breakaway Roping, 1st in the Rookie Breakaway Roping and 5th in the Steerundecorating and runner up in the Rookie Steerundecorating.
The finals were held over three nights of competition and on the first night Nichole placed 2nd in the Steerundecorating and was flagged off in the Breakaway for an illegal catch.
The second night saw Nichole pick up a 4th place in the Steerundecorating which pushed her up the ladder to 3rd place in the standings. With no luck, Nichole was flagged off again in the Breakaway.
In the final night of competition Nichole needed to place with a quick time in the Steerundecorating to remain in average standings. She did just that and took out 3rd place.
Over the three days Nichole had a lot of success and took home four major awards, She was Winner of the Average Steerundecorating 2005, Australian Rookie Steerundecorator 2005, The Australian Steerundecorator Title 2005, and the Australian Rookie Breakaway Roper 2005.
Nichole would like to thank Betty and Andrew Stanton for letting her ride 'Col' at the finals, Todd Hensley (Wagga Wagga) for hazing her all year round, and to congratulate Todd on winning the Australian Steerwrestling Title for 2005. She would also like to thank all the support she has received from friends, family and sponsors throughout the year.
