Twenty two quilters from the NSW Quilters Guild visited Braidwood on Sunday, April 6, as part of their weekend outreach meeting program. Braidwood Quilters were honoured to host their visit and organised a special lunch at the Braidwood Servicemen's Club.
The visiting quilters arrived in town at about 11 am, having travelled up the mountain from Bateman's Bay, and enjoyed Braidwood's great shopping opportunities until it was time to hop on their bus to take them up to the club for lunch. Following lunch, the traditional activity of quilters "show and tell" gave both the NSW Guild members and Braidwood Quilters the opportunity to show their latest work together with a selection of Robyn Ahern's antique quilts collection. Robyn had also made a quilt celebrating Braidwood and its Quilt Event (pictured).
Everyone was very satisfied with the day's activities and felt they had benefited from the closer links forged between the two organisations.
The Braidwood Quilters will continue their busy program over the next few months. Their next community quilt workshop will be held on Tuesday, May 6, and the mid-winter country luncheon on July 3 - and then, of course, the 14th annual Quilt Event will take place over the weekend November 22-23.
