The making of the film which won five AFI Awards in 1987, was warmly remembered by members of the cast and crew who returned to Braidwood for the event which was organised by Braidwood and Villages Tourism. Some of the community members present were also extras in the film.
The film was never released on video, but to mark the event Kennedy Miller Mitchell and Village Roadshow released the film on DVD, and 200 copies were quickly sold out.
Lead actress Loene Carmen and Director John Duigan were present and addressed the crowd from the back of a 1960s ute which has been in the film. A far cry from the AFI Awards taking place in Melbourne, the actors and crew sat on hay bales in the street. However all said they remembered the town with great fondness, and the many locals who had looked after them during the shoot.
During the day Braidwood Film Club had screened three other films shot in and around Braidwood including On Our Selection (1996) with Leo Mckern, Geoffrey Rush and Dame Joan Sutherland, Ned Kelly (1970) with Mick Jagger and Robbery Under Arms (1920). The Films had been lent to the Club by The National Film and Sound Archive.
