Palerang Social Plan on exhibition

04 Apr, 2007 10:29 AM
The Palerang Council Draft Community & Social Plan is on exhibition until 30 April 2007.

The plan is for the five-year period, 2006/07 - 2010/11 and is the first such plan for the new Palerang Local Government Area dealing with numerous community development issues and initiatives.

The Plan has among its objectives the development of a "consistent approach to the establishment and implementation of Section 94 Developer Contributions Plans across the Palerang Council area,"

Without establishing the future needs of the community, the Council cannot claim a nexus between the what is needed and the amount developer should pay for development of community infrastructure.

The Plan also aims to investigate "the establishment of Caravan Parks in selected locations for tourism and short-term low-cost housing needs."

Council is seeking public comment on the draft plan up until close of business on 30 April 2007. The Plan is yet to be formally adopted.

Copies of the draft Community & Social Plan are available at the Council's Administrative Offices and the website.
