Patchy weather doesn't deter quilters

However, the quilts did make their way onto the buildings early in the morning and stayed throughout the day with only a light dusting a rain. Temperatures dropped over the weekend but the crowds were still came and business was brisk around the town.

In the 14 year history of the event, only once has the outdoor 'airing' been rained out.

The 2008 Quilt event was officially opened by Lorraine Moran the editor of Downunder Quilts magazine, on Friday night at the National Theatre, and the winners of the various categories were announced. (See page 3.) Many of the quilts of show were made by the Braidwood Community Quilt Group and will be donated to the residents of Narbethong House at the MPS.

Exhibitions and displays were held throughout the town, including open gardens.

This year the event was visited by the quilt fairy (Jane Ahlquist), enticing visitors to Jenny Wallace's 'fairy garden' in Malone Street.
