Curraweena Lavender Farm at Braidwood is inviting lavender lovers to its first open day on January 20, 2002.
A highlight of the day will be the opportunity to harvest your own lavender, while strolling through the rows of plants and absorbing their colours and fragrance.
Plants and lavender products, made at Curraweena, will be on sale.
Although many farms grow lavender for oil production, Curraweena specialises in growing lavenders for bunching, drying and stripping. Most of the lavender is made into items such as sachets, sleep pillows and pot pourri for those who enjoy its scent.
Peter and Sandra Rylands, who operate Curraweena, propagate many varieties of lavender that are suitable for gardens and commercial growers. Visitors will be able to purchase from the extensive range available.
Catering for the day will be provided by the ladies of the Braidwood Hospital Auxiliary.
